Ripe apple and stonefruit provide instant appeal on the nose while the palate has delicious pear and peach flavours and lovely concentration. This is easy drinking at its best – fresh and juicy, yet dry. Drinking well now and can cellar for 3 years.
From several different vineyards in the Wairau Valley. Winemakers work to ensure crops are kept at a moderate level and they leaf-pluck the vines to ensure the fruit has good exposure to the sun. The fruit was picked early in the season to retain fresh fruit characters and bright acidity.
With this wine we are simply trying to get the characters we see in the vineyard into the bottle. So the grapes were gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with a yeast designed to express the fruit characters. After fermentation the wine was left to rest on lees for a couple of months before bottling.
Food Pairing: A pleasure as a glass on its own, or very enjoyable with lighter dishes as well as risottos, pasta, roast chicken and pork.
