Description

  • Black cherry
  • Ripe red fruit
  • Balanced softness
  • Lovely acidity

A powerful deep red in the glass with aromas of black cherry and ripe red fruits complemented by spicy nuances. The rich and delicate taste is elegantly balanced between softness and acidity, which makes it suitable for tasty pasta dishes and red meat of all kinds.

"Governo" Rosso Toscano is a wine made from a blend of allowed red varieties according to the ancient Tuscan method "governo", in which, after the first fermentation in the wort, dried (dried) grapes are added. This wine has a strong character, an impenetrable color, an intense aroma and a rich but gentle taste.

The motto of the Italian family wine company Barbanera is: "Quality is our greatest passion". For several generations of this family, wine is not just a job, but a higher calling. The company was founded in 1938 by Altero Barbanera and his wife Maria in the picturesque village of Piazza, where she is still located. During the Second World War, the winery practically did not develop, the market was limited only to the village itself. However, after the war, things went uphill. The wine was sold to other parts of Italy and quickly gained popularity there due to excellent quality and democratic prices. Over the years, the small winemaking industry has turned into modern production. An important milestone in development was 1982, when the first wine export to Germany and other European countries began. Modern "Barbanera" was transformed in 2007, and today it is a big enterprise that invariably follows the traditions of quality and is constantly improving.

Delicious!!!

Mark - 18/01/2021

Smooth , full of flavour. Far too young, so I expect improvement over time.

Julian - 21/09/2020

A gorgeous drop, typical old world wine... Smooth, complex. Love it

Amanda - 15/07/2020

Was curious how 98/100 would taste. Loved every drop!

Steve - 04/07/2020

As soon as I tried it, I ordered another case, DELICIOUS

John - 13/07/2020

Bright approach with good mouth feel and reasonable length. An interesting blend of varieties and while it isn't a 98 point wine, is definitely good value.

Just wanted to try it because it seemed so different, and non- mainstream. But we have really liked it...good flavour, good body and tested and tasted and drunk on the day of delivery. No waiting in the cellar!

H
ok, but not as good as some other Italian Reds in this price range.

Hans - 07/07/2020

Not as smooth as I was expecting, somewhat sharp on the palate.

Malcolm - 04/07/2020

C
