Description
- French oak
- Fresh fig
- Subtle vanilla
- Bright acidity
"Ripe, fruity, fleshy, varietal and layered bouquet. Aromas of baked peach and ripe citrus fruits to cashew nut, vanilla and toasty wood, baked custard and hot dry stones lead to flavours of the same. Fine mild wood tannins, medium and acidity and near full-bodied weight and richness present a classic Hawkes Bay expression with lots of palate appeal, flavour an finish. Lots to enjoy" Cam Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2020
"Charming and elegantly expressed, the bouquet shows peach, fresh fig, lemon zest and subtle vanilla characters. It's succulent and beautifully rounded on the palate, offering fine texture and creamy mouthfeel, delightfully structured by bright acidity. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2020
"Fleshy Chardonnay with peach, sizzled butter and spicy oak flavours. A satisfyingly rich wine that delivers a lot for this price. Perhaps not greatly complex in a crowd-pleasing style that will find a ready market" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2020
The wine has a buttery and toasty finish having gone through malolactic fermentation and aged in oak. Just like the “chatter” of the Magpie, fresh, full bodied and smooth. Delicious now or will cellar up to 5 years.
