Description
- Dry style
- White stone fruit
- Ripe tropical fruit
- Mouth-watering acidity
"This is varietally pure and lively, yet with a sense of restraint. The elegantly lifted bouquet shows white fleshy nectarine, grapefruit, Granny Smith apple and subtle oatmeal characters. It's concentrated and brilliantly focused on the palate, delivering linear mouthfeel and mouth-watering acidity, finishing impressively long and engaging. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020
"High impact bouquet, varietal, herbaceous, fruity, tropical and classic. On the palate - equally intense with flavours of citrus peel and pineapple, apple and mango, tart lemon and fresh herbs, a bell-pepper and wet stone mineral moments. A crisp and refreshing style with all the hallmarks of a classic Marlborough white wine. Balanced and well made, ready to enjoy from today and through 2022" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Feb 2020
Grown in a unique micro climate, this wine has a rich expression of tropical fruits balanced by natural acidity. The underlying clay soils come through with excellent minerality, hints of wet stone and satin texture. Recommendation is to drink this wine within 2-3 years of vintage date so that it can be enjoyed at the peak of its freshness and vibrancy.
Vintage 2019 in Marlborough resulted with smaller than expected yield across the entire region but at the same time it has produced fruit of exceptional quality and flavour concentration. Winter was warm and spring had great conditions for bud burst and canopy establishment. First half of the summer brought above average rainfall combined with below average sunshine hours so flowering and fruit set was slightly below earlier predictions. However, the second half of summer brought a dry and hot ripening season that allowed the fruit to ripen and reach those desired intense levels of fruit concentration.
The grapes were machine harvested and field destemmed before being gently pressed to stainless steel holding tanks for fermentation at cool temperatures with selected yeast strains with aim to preserve the aromatic and fruit flavours from the vineyard. This wine was produced at Marlborough Vintners winery on Rapaura Road, Blenheim, Marlborough.
Food Pairing: Fish and seafood are a great choice to match. Delicate flavours of these dishes will complement the bright varietal characters of this wine.
