Description

  • Spicy French oak
  • White stone fruit
  • Lemon& sweet citrus
  • Wood spices

"Stunning and elegant, this is exquisitely composed and expressed on the nose showing white flesh nectarine, grapefruit, fig and lemon pith characters with nuances of spicy oak and flint. The palate exhibits exceptional concentration and focus, wonderfully enhanced by refined texture and perfectly pitched acidity. It’s splendidly poised and brilliantly structured for a long haul. At its best: 2022 to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"Intensely-flavoured and textural wine with its trademark struck match and fireworks reductive character dominating peach, citrus and spicy oak flavours. An impressive wine that promises to age well" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2020

"A single vineyard expression with an intense and complex bouquet - aromas of sweet citrus and white peach, apple, wet pebbles, sweet air - just before the rain - and fine new French oak. On the palate -  equally complex, youthful and vibrant with flavours of lemon rind and apple, peach, white smoke and wood spices. Satin textures, medium+ acidity and oak, slowly coming into balance with a lengthy finish. A truly fine wine with intensity, complexity, charm and youthful energy. Decant for service with best drinking 2021 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

Displaying a brilliant straw and lime-tinted hue in the glass, the nose offers a fragrant and complex medley of white nectarine and subtle complexing sulphides, complemented by underlying notes of flint and toast. A sleek, tightly woven palate gradually unfolds, leading to a finish with genuine length and class. This wine will develop further complexity, mineral and toast like characters with careful cellaring.

With an outstanding track record of awards and accolades, the Keltern Vineyard has truly established itself as one of New Zealand’s premier sites for Chardonnay.
