Description
- Complex, toasty oak
- Fresh red berries
- Baking spices
- Black plum
"Offering lovely fruit purity, the wine shows dark plum, sweet cherry, violet, almond and subtle spice notes on the nose, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate that's elegant and persistent. It's beautifully proportioned with fine texture and silky tannins, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Vibrant dark ruby appearance with a youthful pink hued rim. Aromas of ripe red berries and purple fruits, plums and dark raspberry. Other aromas include baking spices, clove and vanilla with a sweet oak note. Overall, fruity, fleshy, varietal an inviting. On the palate - very youthful with lots of tension from the tannins, acidity and energy. Chalky tannins, medium+ acidity, plenty of raspberry, plum and cherry flavours then brown spices and toasty oak. Young, well made, fleshy and fruity core, nice structure and length. Can drink from today, but nest from mid 2021 and through 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
"Bright, youthful, light ruby-red colour with some depth. The nose is full with intensity and presence of black cherries, savoury kalamata olives, entwined with a rich herbal note of thyme, unfolding subtle coffee and toasted nut nuances. Medium-light bodied, the palate has good concentration of fruit, black cherries, red berries and underlying savoury kalamata olives. The acidity is fresh with a softness, hauling aromas of thyme and integrated notes of coffee and toasted nuts to a sustained finish. The mouthfeel is weaved by satiny tannin extraction and a soft phenolic grip. This is an appealing Pinot Noir with nuances of red fruit, savoury olives, and herbs with integrated notes of coffee and toasted nuts, supported by satiny tannin structure. Serve with pork and poultry over the next 3 years. Fruit fermented to 13.5%. Aged for 9 months in 50% stainless steel tanks and 50% seasoned French oak barriques" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Jun 2020
"Smooth-textured pinot noir with plum, berry, shoe box, wood-smoke and spicy oak flavours, with a hint of fresh herb characters. An attractive and accessible wine offering very good value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review
"Offering fine value, the 2019 vintage is a single-vineyard red, grown in the Southern Valleys. Half of the blend was matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. Full-coloured, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with fresh acidity, strong, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, and savoury notes adding complexity. Still very youthful, it’s well worth cellaring to 2022+" Michael Cooper
Ruby red colour in the glass. Aromas of fresh red berries, dried thyme and black olive. A rich and fruity full bodied palate with raspberries, black plum and integrated notes of coffee bean. A fine tanin structure with a long and toasty finish. The 2019 Delta Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully from release and will continue to mature over the next five years.
Selected from the Delta vineyard, located on the south side of Marlborough's Wairau Valley. The vineyard comprises of 27 hectares of Pinot Noir from selected Dijon clones planted in 2002. The vineyard's rich clay soil and elevation combined with Marlborough's warm days and cool nights, make this site ideal for producing top quality Pinot Noir.
During a cool evening, selected Pinot Noir clones were harvested from the vineyard and transported to the winery where they were kept in a cold soak for four days to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannin form the grapes. Fermented with a carefully selected yeast strain, the grapes were hand plunged up to eight times daily during the height of fermentation. The wine was then pressed equally into tank and seasoned French oak barriques and left to mature for nine months. Heather then selected her preferred barrels for the final blend of the Delta Pinot Noir 2019.

Nice Pinot. Great value. Just made second purchase.
Annette - 27/12/2020
Great colour and a well made wine, flavours very restrained . High alcohol would suggest very ripe fruit in a typical USA style, not really my style but the kids loved it. Not my typical Pinot.
Hamish - 13/11/2020

Nice to drink but not as full bodied as I had hoped for

Punches above its weight - but not quite as impressive as previous vintages in my opinion
