Description

  • Vibrant pear
  • White florals
  • Crisp acidity

"Pristine and elegantly expressed, the inviting bouquet shows apricot, fresh pear, lemon pith and white floral aromas, leading to a beautifully rounded palate that's fleshy and supple. It's well supported by silky texture and bright acidity, making it delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020

Soft, approachable and well loved - just like the Wombat - Pinot Gris is a little giant of the wine world. Coming from the cooler climes of the Adelaide Hills you’ll see notes of vibrant pear and apple on the nose that are relected on the fulsome and generous palate all balanced by crisp acidity.

A lack lustre vintage in the Hills for 2019 as it returned the lowest yields for years. However, although yields were down the quality was good thanks to the Hills escaping the extreme heat of Summer and enjoying a slow ripening Autumn.

Sourced from premium Adelaide Hills vineyard, fruit for this Gris was pressed and then left for three hours on skins (the juice and the crushed berries) to give the palate some texture. It was fermented cool and then matured on yeast lees for 7 months in three-year old barrels.

The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia. Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and perservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artifact. Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don't let the size fool you, these are wines you'll want to drink.

Food Pairing: Drink with chicken liver terrine or roast pork.
