"A fabulously styled Pinot; the complex bouquet shows dark cherry, ripe strawberry, roasted almond, game and floral characters with nuances of vanilla and spice. The palate is concentrated and refined at the same time, offering gorgeous fruit purity together with seductive spicy/savoury undertones, finishing impressively long and silky. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018

It has aromas of bright red fruits, plums and hints of spice. Ripe berry, smoky plum, violet and vanilla show on the palate with a long spicy finish. A great example of one of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs – Best rewards are gained by careful cellaring.

The grapes for this wine were handpicked and harvested on the 7th - 8th April 2015. Grapes were then cold soaked, hand plunged 3 times a day at peak of fermentation. 3% whole bunch fermentation. 100% French oak for 12months with 33% new oak.

Cromwell’s Wooing Tree, is a family owned single vineyard site, located in the heart of Central Otago, the wine region fast becoming known for its top quality Pinot Noir. For many thousands of years Cromwell has been subjected to sandstorms during strong NW winds. Wind blown sands form Cromwell’s unique habitat as one of the only inland sand dunes in New Zealand. The development of Wooing Tree vineyard created a few sandstorms of its own. Especially low yielding ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and extended maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine.
