Intense aromas of tropical passionfruit, citrus and blackcurrant fill the nose. Vibrant and medium in body, the palate shows typical Marlborough Sauvignon flavours including lemon zest and grapefruit with mineral notes of crushed oyster shell. A succulent wine drinking beautifully now or up to two years from the vintage date.
Fruit for this wine was selected from various vineyards across Marlborough’s maritime and cool climate unique sub regions, including the Wairau Valley. The grapes were harvested when they reached optimum ripeness.
Marlborough’s worst ever fire, Boxing Day 2000, burned 6,000 ha over three days and killed thousands of stock. The fire threatened the wine town of Blenheim, as well as a number of vineyards and wineries. Disaster was avoided by the brave residents of what is now known as Fireroad, who battled the blaze by using buckets and hand held hoses and were eventually assisted by a fortunate wind shift.
