Description

  • Plum & red cherry
  • Toasted hazelnut
  • Vanilla & spice notes
  • Soft tannins

"Gorgeously fruited and wonderfully inviting, the wine shows blackberry, plum, tar, olive and toast hazelnut characters. The palate delivers excellent weight and fruit intensity, superbly complemented by velvety mouthfeel and fine, grainy tannins, leading to a long, harmonious, elegantly structured finish" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2019

"From limestone soils and 30 to 35-year-old vines in south-east Spain. Supple, fruit-driven syrah with moderately opulent plum, dark berry, pepper, new leather and vanilla flavours. A silken-textured red. Delicious drinking now" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Dec 2019

Full-bodied red wine with rich aromas of red cherries, plums and blackberries and spicy notes of black pepper. Remarkable red fruit presence on the mid-palate, soft tannins and medium-long finish. Balanced, excellent acidity, smooth and elegant in the mouth with a subtle hint of toastiness. Great ageing potential.

110 hectares, single estate, 25-30-year old trellised vines, 700-800 metres altitude organic & sustainable farming methods, nutrient-poor and limestonerich soil, scarce rainfall. Night harvest of grapes with optimal maturity starting mid-September.

Maceration for 3 weeks, fermentation with gradual increase in temperature up to 29ºC to obtain good colour and then a gradual decrease to 23ºC to preserve the primary aroma of the fruit.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this award-winning wine simply by itself or accompanied by tapas, roasted, grilled or fried dishes, barbecued or grilled red meats, cured meats (ham, chorizo, etc.) and semi and fully matured cheeses.

A fantastic Syrah, very easy to drink, great flavors and finding the Spanish wines are well worth trying. Are on our second case!

This is a great Syrah in my opinion. If it were from Hawkes Bay I reckon you'd pay quite a bit more.
