Description

"A splendidly styled rose, the instantly appealing bouquet shows rockmelon, watermelon, strawberry and floral aromas, followed by an enticing palate that is filled with delicious fruit flavours backed by silky texture and refreshing acidity. The wine is vibrant and immediate, offering fabulous drinking. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018

"Bright, pale pink colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and taut with fragrant aromas of strawberries and cream with a subtle amalgam of red florals, raspberry elements and a hint of confectionary. This has good depth and proportion and possesses an almost textural, mouthwatering aspect. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is richly sweet and vibrantly fruited with flavours of strawberries and raspberries, along with lifted notes of red florals and confectionary. The fruit forms a firm, deep core with good concentration, and is balanced by fine, thirst-quenching phenolic textures and fresh, lacy, balanced acidity. The flavours carry with good linearity to a dry, mouthwatering finish with a little grip. This is a vibrantly rich dry rosé with strawberry and raspberry fruit on a finely concentrated, thirst-quenching palate with good length. Merlot fruit from the ‘Briant’s’ Patutahi vineyard, half the juice bled from the normal Merlot fermentation and half going direct to press, cool-fermented to 12.9% alc. and 4.13 g/L RS. (1.5 Litre)" Raymond Chan, Aug 2018

In the glass this wine displays a strawberry pink with a salmon hue, accompanied by aromas of summer berries with floral notes. The palate is soft and fruity with creamy notes and a lovely dry finish.

Gisborne is the first place in New Zealand to see the sunrise, so our vineyards are the first in the world to greet each new day. The Merlot grapes for this wine were carefully selected from the Briant's Patutahi vineyard. The vineyard is spur pruned and hand leaf plucked to fully expose the fruit, ensuring good ripeness and flavour development.

After a good season In Gisborne, the Merlot grapes exhibited wonderful ripe flavours and good colour to produce this lovely vibrant and fruity Rosé. Harvested in the cool of the morning the Merlot fruit was treated in two parcels at the winery. Half of the juice is bled from our normal merlot fermentation and with the other half, the red grapes are treated as white, crushed destemmed and pressed immediately. The juice Is then treated as a white wine, cooled fermented, stabilised and bottled.

Food pairing: A lovely aperitif or enjoy with Summer salads and seafood.
