Golden, straw colour. Pretty lifted perfume of rockmelon, Beurre Bosq pear, Summer fruits and jasmine, with lovely texture balancing a fine backbone of acidity. The finish is bright and zesty with pink grapefruit and alluring spice notes of fresh nutmeg and chilli.
An exceptionally warm, dry spring and early summer gave us unusually high early season growth. Extraordinary summer heat brought the whole growing season forward culminating in our earliest harvest on March 1st. Late summer brought us record high rainfall with relatively cool daytime temperatures. These cooler temperatures kept disease pressure in check and the fruit delivered to the winery by the vineyard crew was in excellent condition.
Using acacia oak this year has really accentuated the pretty summer fruit and floral characters we love from our Bannockburn pinot gris vineyards. The schist soils here are very fine and sandy, especially in the Cairnmuir Rd block and this presents as a mineral/spice note on the finish of this wine
