Description

The 2018 Mudhouse Pinot Noir is a deep ruby red colour in the glass with rich aromas of red cherry, dried herbs, scented oak and vibrant spice. Smooth on the palate with dark cherry and bramble flavours, this Pinot delivers a long finish with fine tannins and a fresh, balanced acidity.

Grapes for this wine were sourced from the winemaker's Claim 431 Vineyard in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. The vineyard's free draining loam soils over schist gravel make it a natural home for growing outstanding Pinot Noir. The huge diurnal temperature variation experienced here adds to the structure and fruit concentration of the wine.

After a warm, early start to the season, an unusually cold November saw snow fall on the mountains. Thankfully a warm December through to February followed, which allowed the vines to catch up. The drier than usual season was characterised by a short and sweet harvest which produced delightful ripeness and bright aromatics.

Food Pairing: Perfect when matched with game meat dishes.

I received the 2019 vintage. A bit young so will cellar. When advertised on your site you said it was from the 431 site. I would be most confident that it is not.
