Description

  • Dry style
  • Lemon & lime
  • Apple blossom
  • Subtle clove spice

"This is charming and fabulously expressed on the nose showing rockmelon, lemon/lime zest, apple and white floral characters. The palate is vibrant and finely textured with excellent focus and flowing mouthfeel, backed by bright acidity, finishing long and delightfully dry. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2019

"Soft, lemon curd and lime, a little bit of toast or petrol creeping in. Decent bit of crunch and lemon/lime flavour, fine chalk dust texture, though somewhat diffuse on the finish. It doesn’t sparkle, but does the job pretty well" Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

A lifted and aromatic nose of lemon and lime citrus, apple blossom and subtle clove spice. A delicious wine in it’s youth but will also reward with very careful cellaring.

Sourced from mostly older and well-established Riesling vines in the heart of the Clare Valley. Just to the north-west of the township.

2018 was a year of limited water resource compared to years prior. Much of Clare experienced close to half of what would normally be expected. With diligent water and vineyard work and canopy management the fruit for Take it to the Grave has delivered bright, robust fruit flavours whilst still maintaining the bracing acidity we would expect from the best of years. 2018 was a vintage to take extra care, but in doing so has turned out some exceptional wines.

Cool harvested to ensure freshness and vibrancy of the bright fruit flavours. The wine was pressed and the finest of the free-run juice was quickly transferred to stainless steel for fermentation and short maturation prior to bottling to ensure the lovely fruit character is protected.

Food Pairing: Delicious with Cajun chicken pieces, a Summer roast pork or light Thai appetisers.
