Description

  • French & American oak
  • Blueberry jam
  • Cloves & pepepr
  • Round tannins

An intense, deep red in the glass, accompanied by delicious aromas of cloves, pepper, red capsicum & toasted oak. The palate has a long lingering finish, ripe and round tannin with character, subtle toastiness from the French oak and sweetness from the American oak. Blueberry jam, blackberry jam, strawberries & figs are all complimented by a spicy finish.

Similar in style to Syrah, Carmenere (car-men-nair) is originally from Bordeaux in France. Fortunately, Carmenere vines ended up in Chile, as the wines are stunning. Here is a great example, with aromas of raspberry and dark red fruits, the flavours are an exciting array of pepper, truffle, liquorice, blueberry and cloves. Rich and savoury with persistent flavour, it’s just from the south of Santiago. If you are looking for a more exciting varietal than Syrah, here is a great choice, offering a lot more.

Food pairing: Red meats, rabbit, ripe cheeses / blue, pastas/ pizza with cheese based sauces, and, sofrito sauce
