Deep ruby, bright clarity. Extremely fragrant with violet florals, licorice and mocha notes. Beautifully fruited mid-palate which is extremely textural and has complex red and dark fruits complemented by hints of oak spice fine tannins. The finish is extremely long and balanced.
Akarua produced more than 600 individual barrels of Pinot Noir from the 2013 vintage. Of these, about two in a hundred were assessed as being truly outstanding examples of their site, the vintage and Bannockburn Pinot Noir. These were the wines used to blend The Siren. Individual barrels were chosen for the ability to highlight the finest elements of the site and to add an extra layer of complexity and length.
A warm start with early budburst and good early canopy growth. Impressive diurnal shifts from middle to late in the season bringing good flavour intensity and finesse.
