Description
"This is a fruity, rich and soft red that is the perfect partner for the barbecue season. It’s filled with ripe blackberry and blueberry characters, cedar wood and liquorice" Jane Thomson, Taste Magazine, Oct 2019
"Blackberry and raspberry aromas, some mint and eucalyptus forest floor. It's sinewy and lean, tense and firm with gritty tannins and a lot of stewed-plum flavour" Huon Hooke, Real Review, Oct 2019
"This well-balanced and textured red complements the full-bodied Heathcote Shiraz and the soft, rich and fine crimson bubbles of the Heathcote Sparkling Shiraz. The range is designed to accompany chargrilled meats and artisan pizzas from a wood-fired oven. I found it intense and delightful, with an appealing smoky, cedar-wood and liquorice, much softer and more appealing than many young cabernets" Lyndey Milan, Wine of the Week, Sept 2019
Intense dark colour red with purple edge. Ripe blackberry and blueberry characters, cedar-wood and liquorice. Soft, rich, mouth coating, balanced tannin, hints of classic Cabernet and authentically Heathcote. Lovely drinking now. Will be delicious over 2-4 years in a good cellar.
Vineyards from the Northern section of Heathcote were selected, mainly around Corop. The ancient red Cambrian soils of Northern Heathcote are ideal for dark fruited, rich soft Cabernet.
Destemmed and fermented at 25-30°C over 8-12 days. Pressed and matured in vats and casks for 8 months. Racked and aerated regularly to soften the wine. Vineyards carefully selected for a balance of fruit weight and ripeness.
