Description

- Stonefruit
- Subtle butter
- Refined & textural
"This is 100% Mendoza clone Chardonnay made in a textural style in older French oak. Refined and textural with a subtle, nicely grainy structure. Very stylish and refined with a lovely savouriness to it" Jamie Goode, Oct 2018
"Already delicious, the 2018 vintage was matured for eight months in seasoned French oak barrels and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Bright yellow, with a fragrant, slightly buttery bouquet, it is a sweet-fruited, well-rounded wine, with generous stonefruit flavours, gentle, nutty oak characters adding complexity, and loads of drink-young appeal" Michael Cooper
An integral part of these wines, Hawkes Bay’s maritime climate, microclimates and soil types provide a rich canvas of vineyard sites to work with. The winemaker has selected sites from some of Hawkes Bay’s finest winegrowing sub-regions that represent the ultimate varietal expression of the wines in their portfolio. Because of the tiny production of Collaboration wines, all of the vines are tendered by hand (with the help of family and friends) to ensure fruit of the highest quality is produced.
The start for each wine is in the vineyard, and it is vital to work with growers and vineyards that are passionate about their vines, and committed to the highest quality winegrowing. Having winemaker and winegrower aligned, allows for the potential of each site, each varietal and the Hawke’s Bay climate to be realised. Hawke’s Bays maritime climate, microclimates and soil types provide a rich canvas of vineyard sites to work with. Chardonnay is sourced from Ohiti, Te Awanga and Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay. These outer-lying cooler vineyard sites near the coast and surrounding mountain ranges means the fruit retains a beautiful acidity, elegance and purity.
All grapes are handpicked, sorted in the vineyard and brought to the winery in individual batches. Each vineyard site is chosen specifically for the unique properties that will impart another layer of depth, interest and complexity to the final wine.
Food Pairing: Perfect with light and delicate food such as raw and lightly cooked shellfish like crab and prawns, steamed or grilled fish, fish pates, or risotto with spring vegetables.
