Description
- Fresh red berries
- Florals
- Delicate acidity
- Off-dry finish
Displaying subtle floral notes combined with lifted aromas of strawberry and raspberry. These characters translate generously to the palate, which is finely balanced by delicate acidity and an off-dry finish.
Made from Pinot Noir, the grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the morning, crushed lightly allowing the skins and juice to gently macerate achieving the light blush colour and delicate tannins we like for our style of Rosé. The berries were then gently pressed and the juice taken to stainless steel vats for fermentation. After blending, the wine was left to settle before bottling on the Wairau River Estate.
Flowering commenced in the first week of December. During this period the region experienced higher than average rainfall limiting the potential yields. January and February were some of the warmest months on record culminating in one of the earliest harvests seen. Picking began in the first week of March and concluded in the first week of April. The harvest consequently wasn’t condensed allowing the winemakers to pick at optimal balance and sugar ripeness, as well as physiological ripeness.
Food Pairing: Pair with tomato based dishes, such as Cod with tomato bean stew or Baked feta with cherry tomatoes and garlic toast.
