Description

  • Fresh raspberry
  • Plum & floral
  • Vanilla bean
  • Long & refreshing

"A new entrant (or at least it is to me) to the Fourth Wave stable of wines. Exemplary packaging, as ever. Raspberry, brown spices, red liquorice and dried herb. Medium bodied, a little meatiness and spice in with red and black fruits, grainy tannin, balanced acidity, and some grip on a solid slightly saline finish. Proper wine at a very fair price" Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

"It is beautifully fruited and inviting on the nose showing raspberry, cranberry, plum and floral characters with subtle spicy complexity. The palate is equally attractive, displaying lovely weight and fruit intensity, backed by fine texture and polished tannins. It is up front and flavoursome with a lingering refreshing finish" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2019

This Grenache is vivid red and purple in colour. Lifted red berry fruit flavours are immediate aromas with brown spices and subtle vanilla bean adding complexity. Similar flavours flow evenly through the palate delivering a long and flavourful finish.

Bountiful winter rains set the season up beautifully ensuring plentiful soil moisture. Parts of South Eastern South Australia was hit by a hail storm but fortunately had minimal effect to bunches as it arrived a touch too early. A fairly warm and even Summer and early Autumn ensured consistent ripening and maximum flavour development and ripeness. 2018 should be considered a very good year for much of the region.

The fruit was hand-harvested in the early morning to avoid the heat of the day. Delivered quickly to the winery for crushing then fermentation in steel tank before partial maturation in older French Oak. The wine was bottled with minimal fining and filtration and released soon after.

Food Pairing: An easy-to-like Grenache that will partner well with many red meat dishes or perfect simply on its own.
