Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2019

Description

"It is beautifully aromatic on the nose showing grapefruit, Gala apple, lemon zest and herbaceous characters. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity and lively mouthfeel, well supported by fine texture and crisp acidity. The wine offers both the bottle matured complexity as well as vibrant fruit intensity" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2019

This is an elegant and full flavoured Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, exhibiting ripe tropical fruit characters, intermingled with hints of herbs and citrus. The wine is dry and full flavoured with crisp acidity offering a wide range of food matching options.

This wine is produced from vineyards situated on the stony river terraces. The cooler inland sites of these vineyards add natural acidity and bright herbal fruit notes to the ripe tropical flavours found in fruit from our Wairau vineyards. Shoot thinning, leaf plucking and bunch thinning are all practiced on these vineyard sites in the pursuit of premium quality.

The 2017 harvest was a moderate yielding and late ripening vintage. The grapes from the individual vineyards were harvested and delivered to the winery as quickly as possible for processing. The juice was settled bright and fermented cool to retain the intensity of fruit flavours found in the vineyard. A mix of yeasts were utilised for fermentation and the finished wine was left on lees until blending and bottling.

Food Pairing: Ideally chilled and matched with seafood dishes or enjoyed as an apéritif.
