This Pinot Gris is brimming with pear drop and nutty characters, leading to flavours of yellow stone fruit and honey. The palate is full and shows wonderful balance between fruit sweetness and acidity, with a refreshing crisp finish.

Along the length of the North and South Islands, the cool clear waters of the Pacific Ocean carve deep natural coves into the landscape. Intriguing for its unrivalled tranquillity, this spectacular eastern coastline of New Zealand is also renowned for its exceptional wines. In these beautiful, but harsh, conditions the vines struggle for survival, producing low yields of high quality fruit with concentrated flavours.

The 2019 growing season in Marlborough was a hot and dry one. Winemakers received small amounts of rain around the end of December, but then no further until late February. These rain events had very little impact on soil moisture levels, but helped to repleish the vines, setting up nicely to see winemakers through to harvest. Vintage started in mid-March and it provided with incredibly stable weather. This meant blocks could be picked at their optimum ripeness with fruit that was full of flavour, naturally balance acidity and lovely weight.

Select parcels of Pinot Gris were individually harvested, crushed, de-stemmed and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for 48 hours then racked prior to a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to capture and enhance the fruit flavours of pear, honey and stone fruit. Each parcel was fermented separately using a range of selected yeasts. A long cool fermentation followed to capture and enhance the pure aromatics. The wine was then blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with Asian food, chicken and light pasta dishes.
