3 x Château Les Rosiers Bordeaux 2017 (France)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Gilbert & Gaillard Concours International 2018
After its lovely crimson-ruby colour with raspberry tints, Château Les Rosiers Red reveals a nice powerful bouquet of red fruit scents with hints of flowers, spices and mildish mint. On the palate, it is fleshy, rounded and fruity with fine, mature tannins and a lovely fresh finish. It is pleasant right now and will keep all its qualities for another 4 years or so.
In the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, the small village of Soussac stands on the slopes of the Butte de Launay, the highest point in the region. It is here that four generations of the Jolivet family have looked after their vines. Today, Mr and Mme Jolivet make a Bordeaux red, a Bordeaux white and a Bordeaux rosé which are truly worthy of the terroir of Bordeaux.
Food Pairing: It is at its best served at room temperature of about 17-18°C with pâté, roasted red meat, grilled white meat, lamb stew and selections of hard cheeses.
3 x Château La Coudraie Bordeaux 2017 (France)
Awarded Gold Medal: Gilbert & Gaillard Concours International 2018
Gold Medal winning, Young purple/ruby colour. The nose is fresh and shows finesse with its hints of fruit (strawberry and cherries), flowers, spices and leaves that are logically restrained in such a young wine. Its youth shows also on the palate, which appears energetic and firm, with pleasant fruit flavours over a tannic structure that is still marked. This will soften and blend in a year or so to make for a classically seductive ensemble.
This blended Bordeaux (60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) is all planted on clay/limestone soils.
If you’ve ever thought clarets were too austere, this wine will convert you. Ripe and fruit forward, it’s a very moreish Bordeaux from the family property of top viticulturer Jean-Marc Jolivet, brimming with creamy plum and cassis fruit.
