A concentrated wine from Marlborough which is dark garnet red in colour with purple highlights. Vanilla and dark plum aromas with a hint of spice fill the glass. The palate displays flavours of boysenberry, dark cherry with Christmas cake spices and a long toasty finish. An elegant medium bodied palate structure is supported with silky tannins and well balanced acidity, interlaced with spicy oak and coffee. Although this wine will cellar for at least five years from vintage date, it can also be enjoyed now while young.
Fruit for this wine was held cold for five days prior to ferment to help extract maximum flavour. It was aged in oak until the right balance was achieved and then gently extracted and prepared to bottle.
Food Pairing: A great food match with Pan Seared Duck Breast with Blueberry Sauce or grilled lamb chops.
