Description

  • Guava & passionfruit
  • Blackcurrant
  • Lime
  • Dry finish

"Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the edge. The nose is taut and tightly bound with fresh aromas of pungent passionfruit intermingling with fresh herbs, some cut grass elements and snow peas, unveiling mineral nuances. This is refreshing and mouthwatering. Dry to taste and medium-bodied. the palate has a fine, elegantly concentrated, taut core of passionfruit with notes of fresh herbs, snow peas, cut grass with nettles revealing mouthwatering mineral elements. The palate is bright and vibrant with refreshing acidity which enlivens the fruit sweetness, and the wine flows along a fine line leading to a tight, lingering, minerally finish. This is a taut and zesty, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, snow peas, nettles and glass with minerally freshness. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years" Raymond Chan

"Striking bouquet - classic, pungent and potent aromas of pink grapefruit, red and green apple, passion fruit and pineapple. No mistaking the fresh basil and jalapeno either. Light-weight on the palate with fleshy, juicy and crisp textures, salivating acidity and flavours that reflect the bouquet. Lengthy finish, balanced and well-made. Drink now and through 2020" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"The classy, intense 2017 vintage was grown in the Dillons Point district and handled without oak. Light lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and dry (2.6 grams/litre of residual sugar), with pure, penetrating passionfruit and lime flavours, appetisingly crisp and very long" Michael Cooper

"A delectable expression of the variety; it is packed with passionfruit, lemon/lime peel, nectarine and green tea notes, together with juicy palate that displays excellent concentration and intensity. The wine is powerful and satisfying with a persistent crisp finish. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 2018

"This classy wine was hand-picked at Dillons Point, in the lower Wairau Valley. Tangy and intense, it is full-bodied, with vibrant, pure passionfruit, grapefruit and lime flavours, lees-aging notes adding complexity, and a long, dry finish" Winestate New Zealand, Marlborough Tasting, March 2019 Edition

This Mystery Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of wonderful concentration, with expressive aromas of blackcurrant, passionfruit skin and a hint of sea salt. The vibrant palate combines guava, passionfruit and nettle, to form a long lustrous finish.

This exceptional fruit was sourced from the winemakers vineyard in a sub region of Marlborough. Historical flooding deposited nutrient rich silts, which in turn created fertile free draining soils abundant in micronutrients. These soils are ideal for the production of highly expressive, weighty Sauvignon Blanc.

The fruit was carefully monitored during ripening and machine harvested in the cool of the evening at maximum flavour maturity and ripeness. The grapes were transported promptly to the winery where they were immediately de-stemmed and pressed to minimize skin contact. After settling, the racked juice was inoculated with a specially selected yeast strain and fermented to retain fruit flavour and freshness.

Food Pairing: An ideal match with Marlborough’s Green Lip mussels, seared paua or a delicate goat’s cheese salad.

Very nice unoaked wine and worth its 5 star review. Best drunk quite chilled else I miss the slightly thicker taste of an oaked wine (less glycerine? Would certainly buy again.
