AWARDED 90/POINTS & 4.5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

If you're fond of silky reds with lots of easy berry character, then Val Conde Crianza is a 'must have'. Like a young Rioja in style. Pure Tempranillo, the prized grape of Rioja, it is brimful with juicy plums, redcurrant and black cherries, made by the super talented Rivero family.

Food Pairing: Enjoy alongside tapas, garlic mushrooms, roasted vegetables with feta, or chicken. It's great as a glass on its own, too.

1 x Marques del Atrio Rioja Crianza 2015 (Spain)

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Mundus Vini 2018

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Berlin Wine Trophy 2018

AWARDED SILVER MEDAL: International Wine Awards 2018

Classic Rioja with all that moreish, silky, ripe berry fruit tempered by toasty spice. No wonder customers love it. It’s a family estate, founded by three brothers, and has over the years won many awards. This 2015 is made largely from strawberry scented Tempranillo, with a dash of velvety, perfumed Graciano adding depth and savoury notes. For extra complexity half the wine is matured in new oak barrels for four months, allowing it to pick up hints of vanilla and toasty spice, while letting plenty of exuberant, youthful, fruit character shine through.

Food Pairing: A delight on its own, this wine is spot on with garlic chicken, lamb chops with rosemary or a selection of tapas.

Vibrant and fruity, yet delicate, pleasantly matching with slow-cooked meat; definitely, will order one more set.
