Description

"Richly fruited and delectably expressed, this is instantly appealing on the nose showing black/blueberry, plum, cedar, floral and cocoa characters, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate that is plump and silky. The wine delivers excellent fruit power and purity, combined with subtle spicy complexity, finishing persistent and velvety. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2018

This wine is rich and generously loaded with satsuma plum, black cherry and spice on the palate. Subtle French oak adds layers and complexity and the wine has great length with soft tannins. The finish is long lasting, delicious, dense and fruit packed.

The grapes used to make this wine have been sourced from select vineyards in McLaren Vale, including those planted on the original Goss property. With dominant winter rainfall, warm, dry summers that are tempered by the proximity to the Gulf St. Vincent and low humidity, McLaren Vale has one of the most consistent climates in which to grow premium wine grapes. From various Shiraz blocks grown on clay soils, parcels are vinified and matured separately. Harvest period was from 6th March until the 5th of April 2017.

A pioneer farmer and landholder of note, Thomas Goss, his wife Mary and their children arrived in South Australia from Devonshire in 1849. After success in the Victorian gold fields he acquired sections of farming land between McLaren Vale and Willunga which are now home to some of the region’s leading vineyards.
