Superb wood-aged Reserva. Deep dark red in colour with intense aroma of ripe plums, cherries and fine hints of vanilla from the oak aging. Elegant and full of flavour with cherry, strawberry and vanilla. Pleasant long finish is well balanced. Drinking brilliantly today!
Valtier Reserva hails from Utiel Requena, a wine region in Spain (Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) located in the province of Valencia and is home of the indigenous Bobal variety, which produces dark, velvety reds, in this case blended with 50% Tempranillo. Made by our friends Faustino Rivero and sourced from low-yielding vines with an average age of 40 years sourced from stony, high altitude (700m) vineyards. Indiginous yeast fermentation, maturation for 12 months in American and French oak barriques and 18 months in bottle is a recipe for fine Reserva wine yet this deep-coloured, intensely flavoured, silky-soft red is amazing value for money. Perfect drinking now -2 years.
