Kim Crawford Small Parcels Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2018 (C/S)
Description
Mid straw in appearance, this elegant Chardonnay displays a compelling and complex nose showing white peach, citrus and nutty characters. The palate is long and weighty with layers of complex citrus and a long, nutty, toasty finish.
Hand harvesting and gentle whole-bunch pressing resulted in an elegant, silky wine. The juice was transferred directly to barrel with no settling. Fermentation was allowed to occur spontaneously without the addition of cultured yeasts. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and remained on lees, with periodic stirring until blending. The wine matured in French oak barriques for 10 months for further complexity and texture.
Small parcels are micro-cuvées representing the very best of what New Zealand’s pristine, cool-climate vineyards can produce. They often reflect a specific site, expressing a unique terroir in a special way. Each wine is a rare, handcrafted, world-class gem for enthusiasts and collectors.
