"Beautifully fruited and appealing on the nose showing nectarine, poached pear, rockmelon and subtle spice aromas, followed by a succulent palate that is rounded and supple. The wine shows elegant fruit intensity backed by refreshing acidity, finishing long and smooth" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2018

At the heart of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley lies this Ribbonwoods original Block. The 15 year old vines here are planted on an unusual east-west direction, the resulting shade on the south side of each row produces more herbaceous fruit than other sites in Marlborough. The fruit from this vineyard, and that from carefully selected sites nearby, is essential for producing the expressive aromatic and vibrant fruit flavour components for which this Mystery vineyard's wine has become known. In this Pinot Gris this is showcased in its dry palate with baked apple, quince and custard flavours and a touch of stony minerality. This wine has excellent weight, richness and bold, mouthfilling texture complete the picture.

Not only does this winery produce delicious wines but does so in harmony with nature having planted many native shrubs and trees to enhance both their wastewater treatment processes and biodiversity of the vineyard. Additionally, their packaging embraces light-weight bottles and recycled cartons in a move to reduce their carbon footprint, now being accredited for achieving 100% environmentally sustainable vineyard and winery practices!
