Description
- Subtle oak
- Juicy stone fruit
- White peach
- Silky & creamy
"Attractive, seamless, silken-textured Chardonnay with white peach, ginger, biscuit and nut flavours. A supple, elegant wine that's delicious drinking now and offers excellent value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, May 2019
"Very attractive bouquet with a mix of subtlety, some bottle integration and core of ripe fruit. Wood spice and cashew, apple and white peach, pear and white flowers. Dry, fruity, fleshy and weighty on the palate. A firm youthful beginning that eases into a more rounded texture as the wine opens up in glass. Flavours of fresh white fleshed fruits, plenty of acidity, some softer wood spice moments and cashew. Nice finish. Drink now and through 2024" Cameron Douglas
"A nicely maturing Chardonnay; the fragrant bouquet shows grapefruit, apricot and baked apple characters with subtle notes of vanilla and dried herbs. It is succulent and rounded on the palate, delivering elegant weight and silky texture, well supported by bright acidity, finishing long and juicy" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2018
Showcasing stone fruit and guava notes, with a subtle oak influence and some creamy oatmeal-like characters. Juicy stone fruit and guava flavours, married to a lick of oak. Fine acid balance and some creamy textural qualities lead through a satisfying finish.
Fruit for Ribbonwood 2016 Chardonnay originates from a selection of Wairau Valley vineyards. 30% of the wine was fermented in French oak barriques to build some texture, the remainder being fermented in stainless steel to retain more fruit character. The barrel portion of wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation to soften the mouth feel, with six months ageing on full ferment lees to enhance complexity.
Food Pairing: Ribbonwood Chardonnay is great to relax with on its own after a long day, but also makes a great partner to salmon and white fish. For something a little different, try matching with scallops, white meats or creamy pasta dishes.
