Description

We have a unique and special offer exclusive to Black Market. A vertical collection of 3 vintages (2014, 2015 & 2016) from the multi award winning Bordeaux estate Château Chantemerle.

The Médoc region is "the most famous red wine district in Bordeaux, and possibly the world", writes Master of Wine Jancis Robinson. It’s home to storied appellations like Pauillac and Margaux, which house big-name châteaux and very pricey wines (Think Chateau Margaux at over $1000/bottle). But head just outside of these areas, and you’ll find small, family-owned estates producing delicious Bordeaux at far friendlier prices. Enter Chateau Chantemerle.

Located in the heart of the Médoc, Château Chantemerle is a Cru Bourgeois estate owned by the acclaimed Cruchon family and is a classic Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot from vines with an average age of 30 years.

The quality shows in the glass – and in the awards cabinet. A true insider’s find: superb quality at an affordable price. Order your share of this boutique Médoc today!

Steven Spurrier MW and Bordeaux expert describes the 2014 vintage as a ‘joy to taste’ and over delivers on all fronts.

The 2014 Château Chantemerle is drinking beautifully. Cabernet Sauvignon imparts fresh plum flavors and a velvety texture, while Merlot lends ripe cassis and dark cherry. Well-balanced and smooth, this charming red is delightful on its own, or a fine match for pork roasts or aged cheeses.

Wine critic Jeb Dunnuck says the stellar 2015 Bordeaux vintage has "produced a bevy of ripe, sexy, opulent wines". While James Suckling, another very influential critic says "The 2015 Bordeaux vintage is extraordinary. You’re going to want to get your hands on some".

"This wine is full of all the right elements, from juicy acidity to black currant fruit and a supporting layer of tannins. It has weight, concentration and delicious spice and berry flavours" Decanter Magazine

"2016 is the third outstanding vintage in a row for Bordeaux … an excellent year, producing dynamic and well-structured wines that are fresh and balanced" James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com

This balanced, structured wine from a 40-acre vineyard is already delicious. Rich tannins balance with the juicy blackberry fruits and freshness. The wine will develop quickly and will be ready from 2021. Roger Voss – Wine Enthusiast Magazine
