Description

Deep purple red with a bright red rim in the glass. A rich bold plum and mulberry scent with hint of licorice and the fragrant notes of rose petals provides a refreshing floral lift. Delicate earthy aromas, savoury spices and fresh cedar from barrel maturation contributes intriguing complexities. Fresh, elegant and long with the rich, pure flavours of the Shiraz varietal filling the mouth. Fine, powdery tannins and with a silky mid-palate are a feature of the style with the resultant wine showing great balance and texture.

Coming off a lovely cool, wet winter and consistently low temperatures the vines burst away in a slightly warmer than normal, the August, September and October temperatures were right on the long-term average with no extremes. November was a copy of October with ideal temperatures for that month.

The region then moved into weather from December to March that Margaret River is renowned for, temperatures were right on the long-term average with no spikes and lovely cool nights. 39mm of rain was received in March from the tail of Cyclone Olwyn. The timing and volume of this rainfall event was ideal to freshen the reds and kick them on to achieve full ripeness and ideal balance – a trait of the vintage.
