"Bright, fresh and delicately aromatic pinot noir with plum, dark cherry and lightly charred oak flavours. Moderately high energy wine, with a backbone of gently drying tannins. An accessible wine with moderate cellaring potential" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Mar 2019
Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine, with aromas of red berry fruits and violets, a rich and silky smooth palate and a long spicy finish. A great example of one of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs. Excellent value, drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years.
Handpicked the 31st March to 5th April 2017, the grapes were then cold soaked and hand plunged 3 times a day at peak of fermentation. Aged in 100% Frecnh oak barrels for 10 months. This wine is vegan and vegetarian friendly.
The Wooing Tree is a local landmark that sits prominently in the middle of the family vineyard. It has long been a place for locals to woo their lovers, and if it could talk, would have many a story to tell! These days it is not quite the private spot it once was…but they still have plenty of visitors proposing marriage and even getting married under their beautiful iconic tree, amidst the vines.
Central Otago is New Zealand’s coolest wine region, and with its location almost at the bottom of South Island, it is the world’s most southerly wine region. The centre of the region is on the 45th parallel, which is the same as Bordeaux, but the climate is similar to Burgundy. Pinot noir seems to do well when it is right on the cusp of viability, and that is certainly the case here in the south.
Vegetarian friendly.
