Description

Traditionally, the red wines of Italy have garnered the country’s greatest recognition, but as awareness of the country’s wine diversity grows, so too does the world’s appreciation for Italian white wines. From north to south, all of Italy’s regions produce white wine, typically crafted from local grape varieties. While they can vary from light to full and fruity to earthy, all typically have bright, fine acidity. The two wines we are offering below are perfect examples of the cutting edge of Italian white wine production, both perfect with a wide variety of foods, especially with Roasted chicken and all seafood.

This set includes:

1 x Schiopetto Friulano Collio 2016 (Italy)

AWARDED 94/100 POINTS: James Suckling

AWARDED 93/100 POINTS: Ian D'Agata, Vinous

"One of the most exciting grapes in the vast portfolio of Italian white wine varieties" Robert Parker's 'The Wine Advocate'

"Golden-tinged yellow. Intense nose of white stone fruit, lime cordial, green fig and aromatic herbs. Fresh, juicy and precise, with lovely clarity and cut to the pure stone fruit and citrus flavors. Finishes long and tactile with noteworthy depth and complexity. A wine that would have made Mario Schiopetto proud. Lovely balance: the label sports 14% alcohol but tastes like if it has fewer octanes than that" Ian D'Agata, Vinous

"This is a solid wine with fantastic depth and power. Plenty of dried peach and lemon. Spice burn. Fresh menthol. Full body. Yet retains its agile and playful nature. Long and flavorful. Drink now" James Suckling

100% Friulano –  A varietal distantly related to Sauvignon Blanc, full of peachiness and minerality. The Friulano grape makes a rich, dry wine with lovely stone fruit flavours.  It is a full bodied white, with no oak influence.

1 x Feudi Bizantini Passofino Abruzzo Pecorino 2017 (Italy)

AWARDED 95/100 POINTS: Luca Maroni ‘Yearbook of Italy’s Best Wines’ 2019

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Mundus Vini 2019

100% Pecorino – One of the ‘trendiest’ grape varieties around at the moment. Dry, crisp choke full of tropical and stone fruit. Perfect seafood wine!

The wine has a bright yellow colour with greenish tinges. Fruity aroma with citrus, tropical nuances, white peach and exotic fruits like papaya. It has a lingering and very fresh taste with a slightly balsamic finish. Medium acidity and good structure. It can be successfully matched with fish entrées, savoured raw fish, shell fish, all fish dishes.

Feudi Bizantini is a young project founded by a group of wine lovers whom have joined their efforts to produce wines that show the best of the Abruzzo region. Here, all their wines show individual personality and are really approachable from the moment you open them.
