Description

"Richly fruited and generously expressed, the bouquet shows golden peach, apple custard, vanilla and roasted cashew characters, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that is supple and creamy. It is up front and flavoursome with delectable fruit flavours together with seductive oak nuances. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2019

Deep golden yellow in the glass. Ripe, fleshy stone fruits on the nose with hints of vanilla and honeysuckle and lashings of delicate, buttery sweet almond crossiant. No surprises here - this Fat Bastard Chardonnay has an opulent, luscious palate of grilled pineapple and juicy clingstone peach, followed by spiced butterscotch and loads of textural nutty, mealiness. Bright acidity brings length and freshness to the intense fruit characters. Like drinking pure sunshine.

Fat bastard wines is a collaboration between Thierry, a renowned winemaker who had crafted wines from California to France and Guy Anderson a rebel in the wine industry believing that quality was paramount in a wine but that the average consumer hated the traditional intimidation heaped on them by most of the wine industry. The two had collaborated before but this brand was born after trying an experimental wine that Thierry had, where he exclaimed it to be a 'Fat Bastard'!

Machine harvested during the cool of the night. Cold and slow fermentation with aromatic yeast to retain freshness in stainless steel. Matured in both American and French oak. Bottled under screwcap to retain freshness.

Food Pairing: Well suited to a variety of seafood and poultry dishes but equally as suited to quaffing with something richer, such as grilled pork sausages or a wealthy friend.
