Description

  • Poached pear
  • Dark cherries
  • Roasted star anise
  • Cinnamon

"The entry-level Pinot Noir from this top Central Otago producer offers predictably good value, with its pretty floral and cherry flavours and gentle texture. A charming wine in a drink-me-up style" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Apr 2019

"Deep red/purple, excellent colour. The bouquet is full of lovely ripe dark cherry aromas, fragrant and clean, fresh and exuberant. The palate is light to medium-weight and of moderate concentration, with a touch of leanness and a little tannin grip, which is well-measured and subtly played. Nice wine, and good value" Huon Hooke, Mar 2019

This Pinot Noir presents beautifully deep tones of raspberry and black cherry in the glass. The wine boasts an exquisite, lifted nose of strawberries, raspberries and violets on opening, followed by darker notes of black cherry, roasted star anise and cinnamon. An elegantly structured palate, layered with earth and brambles within a picture frame of finely-drawn tannins and bright acidity. A perfect and accessible snapshot of Central Otago.

Sourced from Central Otago vineyards with grapes harvested in their optimal condition. The grapes were transported to the winery and fermented in 100 percent stainless steel tanks to ensure the fresh fruit flavours were preserved.  The resulting wine is bursting with pure flavours of poached pear and honeyed quince with a hint of spice, leading to a lingering succulent finish. Pleasing to the palate now and will continue to cellar well for the next 2-3 years.

A lovely Pinot Noir which compares more than favourably with many of more expensive wines from the same region.
