Description

Bright, light purple hued, pale cerise-pink, lighter on the edge. This has a bright, fresh nose with aromas of cherry fruit with pomegranate notes and red florals, entwined with a subtle layer of herbs and mouthwatering minerals. Crisp and vibrantly bright fruit flavours of dark cherry fruit, pomegranate and dark-red florals, unfolding subtle, near-bitter herb nuances. The fruit has moderating sweetness, and the palate is enlivened by fresh, zesty acidity. The wine flows along a finely-textured, firm and tight line, leading to a thirst-quenching finish of red cherry fruit. This is a vibrantly fresh, subtly rich dryish Rosé with cherry, floral and pomegranate fruit flavours and a mouthwatering finish.

The MAUI range of wines takes their name from MAUI, the demi-god who as legend tells us captured the sun and pulled New Zealand out of sea. MAUI was a great adventurer with an inquisitive nature and a fearless spirit, attributes that are the very heart of the MAUI range of wines.

High sunshine hours made for a hot and memorable growing season and the relatively settled weather during harvest allowed us to pick our Pinot Noir when desired so fruit exhibited good ripe flavours. The flavour and quality of the fruit was second to none.

Settled weather in North Canterbury during December provided optinal conditions for flowering. Summer was hot so the fruit was ripe. The free draining soils helped mitigate the effects of the late summer rain to some extent. The Pinot fruit was harvested then very gently pressed to yield only the free run juice which was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to excentuate the fresh fruity aromas.

Food Pairing: An ideal lunchtime wine or as an aperitif. Enjoy with fish, grilled salmon or tuna with a fresh summer salad.
