Description
Bright, deep ruby in the glass. Dry in style, this Mystery Pinot Noir is elegant and aromatic with supple tannins and lingering flavours. Intense blackberry, plum and cherry fruits mingle with delicate lifted floral notes on the nose and flowing through to hints of coffee on the palate. All well supported by fine grained oak tannins.
The Mystery Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015 comes solely from the Eyrie Vineyard in the lower Waihopai Valley. It is a hand-picked selection of Clone 115 Pinot Noir. These 15 year old vines were pruned to 2 canes and the crop level carefully monitored.
The grapes were fermented in 5000 litre open top vats to allow maximum hand plunging. Pressed and racked into barrels for a full malo-lactic secondary fermentation and 11 months aging. The final blend is made up of 11 selected Tonnellerie Mercurey and François Frères French oak 225 litre barriques. The wine was egg white fined prior to bottling.
Food Pairing: Best served at room temperature. Perfect with red meats and wild game dishes.
