Description

"A little lighter in colour than a few may be used to but don’t let this distract you. Aromas and flavours of a Pinot Noir with elegance and sophistication, red apple, skin, red charry and little starwberry and gentle oak spices and mild toasty qualities. Smooth, soft, gentle and elegant – isn’t that what PN is all about? Fine tannins, ediumacid line, balanced, ready. Best from today and through 2022" Cameron Douglas

"Showing wonderful maturity, the complex bouquet shows dark berry, game, leather, nutmeg and earthy mushroom characters. It is beautifully ripe and rounded on the palate, delivering layers of fine texture and rich savour characters, elegantly structured by polished tannins. A gorgeous partner to slow-cooked dishes. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2016

A bouquet full of berry fruits, game, mushroom and dried herbs. Medium-full bodied, the palate has wonderfully rounded herb, berry and earthy mushroom flavours, held together by ripe fine grained tannins and finishes soft and smooth with a touch of spice.

In 2003 the vineyard was planted with 2 hectares of Pinot Noir, followed 4 years later by a small amount of Riesling. Two meter wide rows and 1.2 meter plant spacing were used to reduce vegetative growth and help ensure quality fruit. Together with low cropping, hand tending and hand harvesting, much effort is put in to ensure we produce clean concentrated grapes. Renowned blind wine maker C.P. Lin was engaged to make the wines and the first vintage of Pinot Noir was produced in 2008, followed four years later by our first vintage of Riesling. With the increasing profile of the Waipara Valley region and the growth of knowledge of our the terroir, the winemakers endeavour to produce that magical wine.
