Description

  • Golden apple
  • Mixed spice
  • Rich & intense
  • Generous texture

"Richly fruited and complex, the wine shows golden apple, poached pear, candied orange and mixed spice aromas. It's opulent and flavoursome on the palate, delivering terrific weight and generous texture, with a hint of sweetness, finishing long and engaging" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2020

"A rich, intense wine with tree fruit, nutty lees and a suggestion of honey from botrytis. An almost unctuous wine that is the result of careful selection and a lot of lees work" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Mar 2019

The bouquet is perfumed with aromatics reminiscent of pear, apple, quince, dough and cream, with hints of wood smoke. This Pinot Gris boasts an intense, richly textured palate with stonefruit, custard and pork fat flavours with a good line of acidity.

Framingham Marlborough Pinot Gris is designed to be a world away from the typically asutere "Pinot Grigio" style of wine made from this variety. Framingham prefer to focus heavily on the texture of the wine, picking grapes late to give it some inherent richnes and using old oak and lees againg to enhance the mouthfeel.

Each parcel of fruit was hand-picked and bunch-pressed. Juices, treatedwithout sulphur dioxide or clarification enzymes, were predominately fermented spontaneously in old oak barriues and acacia puncheons (65%), the remainder being fermented warm in stainless steel. Components were aged on full ferment lees for seven months.

Food Pairing: All kinds of pork dishes, chicken or pâté.
