Spy Valley is situated in Marlborough, a land of abundance...

A ripe plum in the glass this pinot noir has a bouquet of black cherry, plum and a sprinkle of spice. On the palate you will experience sweet berry fruit and plum flavours leading to a crisp, fine finish.

2015 is a strong vintgae that will reward cellaring for at least 3-5 years.

Alluvial based shallow and stony soils with overlying sandy loam. Clean ripe fruit was hand-picked and naturally fermented in open vats. After being aged in oak barrels the wine was blended and bottled.

Marlborough is a land of abundance. Abundance in New Zealand wine making, in a region celebrated for its increasing depth of varieties. In beauty and sunshine, an arresting, picturesque and geographically diverse setting. And in lifestyle choices, making this one strikingly unique place to be.

The Johnson family chose the Spy Valley terroir back in 1993 for its stony, free draining riverbed terrain. Today, the fertile soil of their New Zealand vineyards supports a range of wine varieties and styles and lends our wine its unique flavour. Terraced vines enjoy both rocky riverside gravels and deeper clay and silt soils across the Spy Valley estate.

Spy Valley’s commitment remains to the land and to the people who tend it – they are simply farmers at heart, nurturing soil and vine to cultivate the complexities in their wine. And they’re mindful that it’s the focus on sustainability which will ensure their guardianship of this land for generations to come.
