Description

"A beautifully maturing pinot offering ripe fruit flavours together with stylish savoury nuances, showing attractive aromas of spiced cherry, plum, game, thyme and almond on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that is silky and flowing. It is smooth and juicy with polished tannins, finishing long and delightfully engaging. At its best: now to 2020. Certified organic" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2018

A classic Pinot Noir displaying a complex nose of red berry fruits, reminiscent of cherries and raspberries. This medium-bodied red, has a supple palate and silky tannins, whilst the natural fermentation adds complexity. The finish is crisp and dry.

A cool start to the year, with some late frosts, but the weather was settled for flowering and fruit set. The summer was warm and very dry, resulting in berries and bunches being smaller than average. Harvest took place in good conditions, resulting in fruit which showed aromatic ripeness as well as a balanced, fresh acidity.

The vineyards were tended throughout the season by hand; following the growth of the plant the vines were shoot-thinned, then leaf plucked, then fruit –thinned to achieve a balanced canopy. Over 80% came from within the winemakers vineyard, where the soils are rich and clay-based.

Certified organic grapes were hand-picked, destemmed and fermented with wild yeast. The ferment was plunged by hand twice daily and remained on skins for 3 weeks prior to pressing. Aged in older French oak barriques for 11 months after pressing off skins, the wine was then assembled from select parcels, before being lightly filtered and bottled.

Food Pairing: Delicious on its own, or pairs well with wild game and roast vegetables.

I'm ordering more. Great with or without food.

Good value Pinot at 'mystery' price. A nice example of the region. Wouldn't pay full RRP.
