“Subtle, beautifully balanced rose style, finely tuned for summery enjoyment. Flavours are well suited to the style, shining with appeal with light food courses or in the afternoon sun. Pink in colour and near- dry. Nicely constructed and with much enjoyable sipping ahead over summer” Peter Saunders, Oct 2018

"I had never been a rosé fan. But when a snowstorm hit New York, and I was unable to get home, I found myself eating a pizza in my friend’s kitchen and drinking a glass of Toi Toi Sara’s Marlborough Rosé 2018 from New Zealand, and my mind was changed. This pale pink wine is budget-friendly at $15 a bottle and fruity yet not too sweet, making this rosé an easy-sipper. I will definitely be bringing a bottle to share (or not to share) for my family’s Christmas party" Kristen Richard, Assistant Digital Editor, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, Dec 2018

Owner of Toi Toi, Sara Joyce, loves her Provençal style Rosé, which is her “go to” drink. She asked Toi Toi winemaker Tim Adams to craft a New Zealand style Provençal Rosé and this wonderful wine has resulted. With the colour of light salmon hues and beautiful aromas of red berry fruits, manderin and floral notes this wine is refreshing and clean and leaves you wanting more. The flavour abounds with summer berry fruits, orange citrus and with a hint of yellow plum showing through. It is mouth filling with a sweet mid palate, great length and finishes clean and crisp. Serve chilled over lunch with good friends or as an aperitif, or in fact anytime when a delicious wine is called for!

The 2018 vintage will be remembered as one of the trickiest on record, with cool days in February and March and rain coming just before and during harvest. Sugar levels were down in the grapes which prolonged the ripening season and pushed harvest dates back by about seven days compared to normal. Fortunately, Toi Toi dodged the rain showers and harvested our grapes in the cool of the early morning, in very good conditions. Pinot Gris and the winemakers Central Otago Pinot Noir grapes were picked when the flavours were at optimum, to ensure we preserved the fruit flavours in the wine. We used a select de-stemmer harvester to softly handle the fruit. Once pressed off skins, the juice was then fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains to preserve the inherent delicate fruit flavours. Following fermentation, the wine was aged on light yeast lees to increase palate weight and complexity before it was bottled for enjoyment.

Food Pairing: Sara says, “My Rosé compliments my strawberry salad with pastrami and salted pistachios beautifully, enhancing the lovely soft summer fruit characteristics of the wine”.

A really nice Rose, not too sweet

I first ordered 6 bottles of this wine because I'm fussy about Rose. We were delighted with it and shortly after that ordered another 6 bottle as it tastes way above it's price We like the colour the fruitiness and the freshness and our lunch guests were equally taken with it. We are visiting Blenheim in a couple of weeks and will certainly visit the winery.
