Description

"It is beautifully ripe and elegantly lifted on the nose showing red/black cherry, plum, floral, mixed spice and toasted almond characters. The palate is juicy and rounded, delivering youthful fruit flavours and fine texture, finishing smooth and lingering. Harmonious, mellow and comforting. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2018

"Even ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, a little lighter on the edge, youthful in appearance.  The nose is moderately concentrated and packed with aromas of dark-red cherry and berry fruit subtly melded with a thread of dark herbs and suggestions of whole bunch stalk-like elements, unfolding a little raspberry liqueur and earth.  Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and sweet fruit flavours of dark-red cherry and raspberry fruit along with subtle herbal nuances.  The fruit has lusciousness, and forms a lively and vibrant heart, enlivened by fresh acidity.  Light, balanced tannin extraction supports the fruit and the wine leads to a light- fruit-sweet finish.  This is a moderately sweet and rich cherry and raspberry fruited Pinot Noir on a fresh palate with balanced structure.  Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-5 years.  Fruit from several sites in Martinborough, primarily Abel clone, fermented with approx. 30% whole bunches to 13.2% alc., the wine aged 10 months in approx. 20% new oak" Raymond Chan, Mar 2018

Ruby red in colour, the Estate Pinot Noir shows plum and dark forest fruit characters on the nose, married with some herbal notes from whole cluster fermentation. Medium bodied, the palate has bright berry flavours underlined by judicious use of toasty French oak to complement the fine grain tannins. The wine finishes long with berry fruit and savoury flavours and lacy acidity.

Simple, easy drinking quaffer. Nice wine at a good price, but no complexity.
