Description
“A fabulous dry style, the delicately expressed bouquet shows raspberry, Gala apple, white nectarine and floral aromas, leading to a vibrant palate that is pristine and lively. The wine offers elegance and bright fruit flavours, beautifully framed by refreshing acidity” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 2018
“Waiana Estate is owned the Plowman family who grow grapes on their own property in the Tukituki Valley and this Rosé is named after their twin daughters Indiana and Summer. Made using merlot grapes that are shepherded into the bottle by star winemaker Dave McKee, this is as about as close to Provenç al Rosé as you’ll find in NZ. Dry, clean and boasting mountains of minerality” Yvonne Lorkin, Wine & Beverages Writer Dish Magazine
Waiana Estate is the specialist Rosé label of the Plowman family who have 5.26 ha of vines on their 25 ha Tukituki Valley estate in Hawke’s Bay. The Plowmans intention is to produce Rosé that stands among the best in the county and alongside the best Provencal-styled examples. Merlot and Malbec vines were planted in 2000, and the Plowmans will use Cinsault and Grenache in future bottlings from vines recently planted to become closer to the Provencal wines. At present, the wine made is 100% Merlot, the first vintage being the 2013.
