Description

"Bright, even, straw-yellow colour with some depth.  The nose is fresh and full with open and lively aromas of bright yellow stonefruits entwined with exotic florals, and suggestions of herbs and passionfruit, along with lifted pears.  This has depth and is quite accessible.  Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is up-front, open and accessible with flavours of tropical fruits, exotic florals, pears and honeysuckle.  The flavours form a concentrated core with good presence to the mouthfeel, and the wine flows along a smooth line with good acidity, carrying the flavours to a sustained finish.  This is an up-front, openly accessible dryish Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral, pear and honeysuckle flavours on a smooth-flowing palate with good weight.  Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3 years" Raymond Chan, Sept 2018

"It is immediately appealing on the nose showing ripe peach, fresh pear, apple blossom and rockmelon characters, leading to a juicy palate that is beautifully rounded and smooth. The wine offers delightful fruit intensity and vibrancy, elegantly framed by refreshing acidity, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018

Succulent yellow nectarine, white peach and pear aromas mingle with complex floral honeysuckle and lychee notes. The palate, luscious and intense with sweet tropical fruit followed by lovely ginger spice notes. A ripe acidity carries the fleshy palate through and the wine finishes with a moreish minerality.

The Journey of our wine begins far from our vinerads. ure water from the snow-capped Southern Alps travels six-months through braided rivers and underground aquifers to emerge crytal clear at Rapaura Springs. Our wines reflect the purity of these waters and tell a story of a lifetime in Marlborough working with nature.

The 2018 growing season in Marlborough was not without some challenges. December, we enjoyed perfect flowering conditions, January was one of the warmest on record, February delivered some rain and March was characterised by extended dry periods and high sunshine hours. Despite all this, the fruit ripened nicely on the vines, earlier than normal, and we had clean, ripe and intensely flavoured fruit come harvest in April. Once harvested, the fruit was gently pressed and the juice fermented at cool temperatures to capture the vibrant fruit flavours from the vineyards. Our Rapaura Springs Pinot Gris has a broad range of encompassing fine fruit flavours from all of Marlborough's best wine growing areas.
