Description

"Elegantly expressed and complex, the bouquet shows Gala apple, nectarine, nougat, almond and subtle spicy notes. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours and rounded mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by creamy texture and well-balanced acidity. Texturally attractive and lingering. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2018

"Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged.  The nose is full and up-front, and packed with dense aromas of savoury citrus fruit aromas along with yellow stonefruits and suggestions of minerals.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has flavours of fresh and savoury citrus fruit layered with subtle notes of stonefruits and nuts.  The flavours are up-front anf mouthfilling, the fruit richness balanced by fresh, lacy acidity.  The wine carries along a light-textured line, leading to an elegant finish.  This is a fresh, up-front Chardonnay with savoury and fresh citrus fruit flavours along with nutty notes, the acidity providing balancing cut.  Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3 years.  89% Chardonnay from the ‘Riverpoint’ and ‘Opou’ vineyards blended with 7% Viognier and 4% Marsanne, indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc.  Certified Biogro organic and Demeter biodynamic" Raymond Chan, Sep 2018

This wine has a warm ripe apricot character with lifted acidity, scented white peach and honeysuckle and finishing with a soft, fat warm mouth-filling character of immediate appeal.

In 1984 they thought it crazy to grow grapes organically, Milton spent the last thirty years proving that they were right! Now, it seems everybody wants to be crazy, and that’s just what this planet needs. Crazy by Nature – makes perfect sense.

The 2017 harvest produced wonderfully ripe grapes and full crunchy flavours. I make this wine in a fruit-forward style with the freshness of an ocean breeze and the texture of fine silt loam. The young juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts and no further additions in the form of finings. White peach, honeysuckle and ripe apricot flavours abound.

A blend from our biodynamic Estate vineyards in the Gisborne wine growing district. The original Riverpoint parcel was planted in 1978. Situated alongside the old Waipaoa riverbed the soils here contain high levels of fine silt and silken clays and these minerals assist in producing aromatic, dense wines. Proximity to the Pacific Ocean exposes the site to a cooling sea breeze during summer and this effect plays a pivotal role in capturing a special delicacy of flavour in the grapes grown from this site. The clay soils of Opou vineyard gives the wine a soft, fat warm mouth filling character which gives the wine an immediate appeal. The addition of 4% Marsanne and 7% Viognier extend the palate weight.

Food Pairing: Serve cool. Drink between 2017 – 2020. This is a versatile food wine, particularly suitable with seafood, cheeses and summer salads.
