Description
"Aromatic and quite intense sauvignon blanc, with a mix of ripe passionfruit and tree fruit flavours and lifted grassy, red capsicum notes. An ethereal, almost chewy texture adds extra appeal. A complex, stylish wine" Bob Campbell, Master Of Wine, Real Review, 2016
This Mystery Sauvignon is a delightful pale straw colour in the glass with aromas of vibrant green capsicum, lemon-balm, kaffir lime leaf and pink grapefruit. The palate is rich and full with blackcurrant, grapefruit, capsicum and green herb with a hint of sea salt on the finish.
Vines for this wine grew in the maritime climate of the lower Wairau Valley, which is slightly cooler than most of the Marlborough Valley, with a slower longer ripening period. This area was once part of the Wairau flood plain and offers deep, fertile, free-draining soils, which help to produce the intensity of flavour displayed in this Mystery wine. The vine health along with the vineyard rows being slightly off the usual north-south orientation contribute to the characteristic flavours of this wine. Fruit was sourced from a single vineyard, these grapes had been carefully monitored during ripening and harvested in the cool of the evening at maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness. Whilst in the winery the juice was pressed off immediately to minimise skin contact and juice deterioration following harvesting. After settling, the juice was fermented using carefully selected yeast in stainless steel at cool temperatures to retain fruit flavour and freshness. This batch was selected for this particular wine due to its power and intensity of flavour and its fullness and balance. The resulting wine is best enjoyed in its youth, within two to three years from vintage date.

Magnificent purchase. When I saw the label I was over the moon. The wine is superb and like most Sauvignon Blanc enjoyed better after being out of the fridge for 20 minutes so it is not so cold.
