Description
Bright pink with blue hue in the glass offering powerful aromas of fresh strawberry, stewed rhubarb, watermelon, raspberry & passionfruit. A rich and lively palate with a burst of flavours, candied cherry, raspberry and watermelon. The wine is racked of the yeast lees, to keep all the fruitiness and floral character of the Pinot Rosé. Some really fine lees are kept to give some fatness and great mouth feel to the wine.
Drumsara is a boutique family vineyard is situated high on a glacial outwash plateau in the Alexandra Basin in the Eastern Quarter of Central Otago. The wines are distinguished by the unique weather of the region: long cool autumns, hot dry summers and very cold winters with temperatures ranging from minus five to above forty degrees Celsius. Minerals are gently released from the ancient glacial outwash gravels, all in a low 350mm rainfall.
Winemakers Anthony Worch & Marion Vialade, both from France, have presided over the Drumsara vintages since 2005. Each year they have returned to Alexandra bringing European experience to blend with New Zealand techniques. In the winery traditional manual wine making techniques are employed such as using French barrique maturation contribute to excellent flavor development.
